Is there a switch that turns off the palace upgrade feature? It hasn't worked in my last several games, even into the Modern age. Could it be a v. 1.21f bug? Or maybe my people just don't like me?
The city that builds a palace will become the capital.
This could have quite an impact on your civ, so be carefull

well, actually sometimes that doesn't work.
But try pressing F7, that might help, it could be
you can do several upgrades at once

I wish you could turn off the "The people love you...". It interferes with the game and I always click X and don't do it. It's a nice feature, but it should be toggable.

It's nice eye-candy and it doesn't bother me that much. But to have it optional is a good idea. Especially in MP it might be disturbing.
In my version it's F11 that brings up the palace screen, but no upgrades have been available. Moving the cursor around doesn't make the phantom palace parts appear for selection, the way it used to work.
Well, there's alway the possibility
you are the all-time worst player and
don't deserve any palace upgrades :

BTW, Tassadar, it's "he."
Don't worry about it! As someone mentioned, it's just eye-candy. Whether your Palace improves or not makes absolutely no difference in the game. And from what I've seen, it's pretty arbitrary whether your citizens decide to make improvements or not. I've had games where I've been way ahead of all the other civs, but my palace is really sucks. Then in other games my empire will be sheer crap, but I'll have a really elaborate palace in no time. If I had my way, I'd just turrn that off altogether.
I haven't had any Palace upgrades since 1.21f. Not that it bothers me much though.
But then it could be taht I am a bad leader too!

Not having the palace doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that something isn't performing the way it's supposed to. Is it a bug, or have I done something that turns off this feature?
