  • MOD: Civ3 Latin

For those Roman players like me out there, I translated as much as I can from the Civ3 editor. I can safely say 90%, with the exception being the units ( ), is translated.

No rules have been changed, and no map created. It is absolutely Civ3 1.21f, except for the Latin. Some Wonders I couldn't translate, only because I just couldn't find anything that would work. I'm working on it though. Some things such as Saltpeter, I had to change to "gun powder", which is basicly the same thing.

I need to work out the proper ending on some of the words, I'm also working on that.

Please read the ReadMe file in the zip for info on how to contact me with e-mail, or just post below.

EDIT: Sorry I screwed up. The new download is below.

You should contact Jacobite1688 (or some # sequence like that). He is translating the entirety of CivII into Latin, and was recently recruiting helpers.

Let's see...If it's just a mod it should probably not be any copyright issues, but if you start mixing with the textfiles you should make sure to contact Infogrames first and ask for permission.

are Infogrames planning a Latin release?

Marquis de Sodaq: I don't have CivII, so I can't help there

Gramphos: I just changed the names from the editor. I didn't go near any of the text files. I'd love to try out the Diplo text file, but every time I look at it, I get a heart attack.

          Immortal: We can hope.

Proabably not, but they still have the copyright, and permissio0n is needed to do a translation.

Heaven forbid Infogrames would lose sales in Vatican City if someone were to translate.

It's not about that, it's just about laws. If you are up to edit more then what yuo can change with the editor, then you should write to infogrames, and not do anything before you get a possitive reply.

Listen to Gramphos, somebody actually got in trouble last year because of a similar situation.

                    I always listen to Gramphos.

I'm rethinking some of my other mods that I might to put on the back burner because of that.

Yes, although I'm a builder type player, and would be better off the playing as the Babs, I play as Rome only because they are Rome, and I really like the UU. I head straight for Ferrum and then for Respublica. I'm not big on starting a war that early in the game, so I basicly play defensively. If I have to, I will fight for that Ferrum in the enemy territory.

If you want further information, I suggest talking to some of the big boys of stragety on this forums, such as Vel, I'm shure he has a few pointers.

)Please read the Readme file for more info. However, here is a slight overview.

I translated a couple more Wonders. I also changed Rome's great leaders and changed their shuned government from Communism to Monarchy. Reasons why are in the readme file (which is new and improved! ).

Also, I beg again, ANYONE who has a better grasp at latin and thinks he/she found an error, or a suggestion, PLEASE TELL ME!
