  • Game crashes like a mofo

Since I installed the 1.21f patch the game has been crashing randomly. Now it crashes exactly at the same time right after the comp moves and it's about to be my turn. It does this everytime even after I rebooted and/or reinstalled the game or even changed resolutions. The crash is a normal "Civilization3.exe has caused errors and will be closed by windows". I never got these errors before this patch but I do not want to go back to previous patch because I am very far into this game and want to finish it if its possible. It's a huge map game with 16 civ's.

    My system:
    Win2k Pro SP2
    AthlonXP 1600+
    256MB PC2100 DDR-RAM
    Epox 8KHA+ mobo
    Geforce2 GTS 32MB
    Sblive Value
    Latest drivers for everything.

BTW, I have the drwatson log with the error details if that would help.

I believe there have been threads on crashes during PC moves. I believe someone found out it happened whenever India tried to talk to another civ... weird.

Pythagoras, you just gave me a good idea. Right before the turn ended I talked to every civilization and the game didn't crash after the comp moved! I love you If anyone else has this problem tell them to talk to every civ and it might work for them.

Now the game crashes after the following turn and what I did before does not fix it

Start a new game and see if that crashes, if it dosnt its possible your current saved game is corrupt.

I don't think the save is corrupted because I tried playing from the autosaves and they all crashed at the same exact point.

Arg . The game constently freezes when one of thoes "Top ten Civilization". I currently have a v1.21 of Civ III. It tends to do a "Timmy", Freazing with the music looping over and over. After a while Windows closes it. I load up a scenario and when it gets around 3100-3000BC, It freezes.

                    Loads fine without the scenario

. The game worked correctly when I did not load the scenario. Just started with New Game and whent past the 3100-3000B.C. and showed the "Top Ten Civilizations" with no problem. Whats going on. I have instaled the v1.21 patch. Is there something going on that I dont know about.
