Do you think the trades that you make with the AI are fair? I always make sure I am giving them as little as possible before I trade. Are there some trades that the AI is ripping you off on?

The AI rarely agrees to an equitable trade. If you were 'gracious' with them and had a big military maybe.

Try trading 1 gold piece for 1 gold piece, the AI wont go for it ussually.

You are right, the trade normally is not in your favour.

Have a look at the editor:
      select scenario > custom rules
then rules > edit rules > difficulty levels
where it says AI to AI trade rate, it's specified at what rate the AI will trade with another AI civ. The higher the value, the more difficult it gets to compete with the AI.

I think that only affects the rate at which the AI trades with each other, not how they trade with you

Correct, but indirectly it also affects how they will be trading with the human player.

This is the text from the help in the editor:
AI to AI trade rate (AI Bonuses)

Determines the percentage multiplier used in AI – AI trade sessions on the selected difficulty level. This value is a percentage (acceptable values range from 100% to 1000%) which is multiplied by the total value (in gold) of the initiating civ’s offerings, which is used by the "other" AI civ to determine whether a deal is acceptable or not. For example, with a rate of 120, an AI civ offering 100 gold to another AI civ for something would actually be worth 120 gold to the other AI civ.

This rate directly affects the frequency and aggressiveness with which AI civs trade amongst themselves.

So, if I understand that correctly, the AI makes better deals with each other than with you.

You have it part right. It depend on the level of difficulty. If you play on Chieftan or Warlord the AI makes better deals with you than with the AI civs. On Regent its even up.

Yes - Regent can be considered the 'fair' difficulty level
