  • The utility we really need

    Hi,
I was thinking - what would be really great would be a utility that allowed the conversion of graphics files into the Civ3 map format. Already such utilities have been made for other games. One person (I forget the name or name of the program) made a program a while back that would allow conversion between Civ2, CTP, Railroad Tycoon, .bmp file and other games. Activision thought this important enough for CTP2 that the company made such a thing for that game.

Esp. given the lack of a mimi-map, this would be really needed for Civ3. You just take a map, resize it so that each pixel would equal one tile, have each color represent a different terrain type, convert, and voila, your map is just about done, with just a little touching up here and there.

Does anybody have the skill to do something like this?

Wow! Love that map from pixle idea! there would be some problems though, cause how would you put in resources, terrain buildings, overlays, etc.? Anyhow, makeing something basic like that that just makes a blank map doesn' sound too difficult for geniuses like Gramphos and other util creators. Can someone make an attempt at this? it looks like a really good idea!

I don't know if it works with 1.21f, but I see no reason why the BMP conversion wouldn't

Thanks Gramphos! I actually posted in that thread, but it was months ago and I'd already forgotten! I had been looking for something like this in the utilities section of the files thread, but didn't see anything there.
