Is there any way to get the updated editor without installing one of the patches? As I've stated previously in other threads, my computer conks out when I run Civ III with a patch installed, and I wanted to be able to use the editor still. Another issue, if I try to run a game modded in a later version editor with an earlier version game patch, will it still work? It's doubtful, but I thought I'd ask anyways...

Re: Editor
The editor is a stand alone program, so just back it up after you add the patch. Once you reinstall the game without the patch, overwrite the original editor.Originally posted by Trip

Odd! It's not a folder it's looking for, it's a pcx file. I just had a look in my Art folder and it's there in the main directory. I suggest you uninstall the whole thing and start from scratch. Possibly you'll find that the patches no longer crash your game afterwards. Knock on wood!Originally posted by Trip
I'm doubtful if even that will work. I tried running the editor even BEFORE I restored any of the files. I installed 1.21f, and tried running the editor, and it says I'm missing some file(s) from the Art/Palletes folder.... but I don't even have a Palletes folder...

Like I said, there is no folder, just a file called pallete.pcx, which is right in the main Art folder. Maybe you ended up with a wonky editor, have you tried downloading it again? If that doesn't work, I'm afraid your only option is to contact Infrogames technical support.Originally posted by Trip
Didn't work.
Could you zip your Palletes folder for me and include it as an attachment please? It's worth a try I figure.

Right now there are no files in the Art folder at all. Just other subdirectories. I get an error saying "ERROR: Could not open file: Art/Units/Palletes/ntp00.pcx" So I guess that it's not directly off of the Art directory, but under Units. In that case, could you zip up all files you found in that folder? Right now I don't have any, and I'm not sure if that's the only file I'm missing.

Well that's a different story, I do have a Palletes folder in Units, with the file you mention. However that leaves you with a big problem, since the Art folder is about 500 meg, and there's no way I could possible zip it down to a size that would even allow me to email it you. And you should have several individual files right in the main directory, 20 by my count, and they're all very important ones that the game itself will need.Originally posted by Trip

Sounds like you have an install problem happening. I suggest you contact Infrogames technical support. You might have a bad copy of the game. Either that or your Windows install routine has something wrong with it. Have you tried reinstalling your OS?
