The games lowest resolution is 1024 x 768, it will not work at lower resolutions, so using KeepRes=1 is always for higher resolution like 1280 x 960 or 1600 x 1200.

Yes, I tried changing the resolution, and it works, but I can't see enough of the screen to play the game (I can't get to the Main Menu buttons, they're off the screen), so I left it at 1024.

I did find the Auto Save games, the game did crash again last night, but not for the sound.dll this time, and I can go back to my last turn and not lose anything...great feature.

I think my problem just has to do with the fact my computer is not that great as compared to today's standard. I just have to be beligerent in keeping as much free space as possible, going back to Raion's note about the amount of swap memory the game uses.

I never played Civ game before, I did play CTP, and while CTP had some things that Civ doesn't (like a larger selection of opponents), I think Civ is more challenging, i.e., the AI teams are lot smarter than in CTP...also the advisor feature is great and the diplomacy options blows away what CTP had. Of course may be my judgement is clouded, ever since Joan d'Arc asked "I'll show you mine if you show me yours.". Something about her...

I really have not had time to finish a game yet, but soon, now.
I say its been around 130mB swap-disk memory, but I am in the 2nd era, just starting.

Oh, maybe use the manual's keyboard command on p. 196-199 of the manual.
I have not had time to check, but I think you can for those icons.
