  • cannot uninstall or reinstall

I have a problem. My game was not responding to my modified civ3mod so I decided to copy my game to disk and to reinstall the game. When I tried to uninstall it in the control panel add/remove programs, the installation wizard came up and the computer would ask me to confirm deletion. After I said yes the maintainence complete window came up. I could not use the uninstall so I deleted the game manually. The game still showed up on the add/remove progams list and still would not uninstall. When I tried to reinstall the game, the same thing happened, the install wizard, the confirm deletion, etc. Now I can't play the game. I'm desperate for help.

If you just deleted the folder, then you'll still have civ3 registry entries, which need to be deleted before you can reinstall. Go to Start Menu > Run and type in regedit and press ok. The edit menu in regedit has a Find function with which you can search for anything pertaining to civ, civilization, civ3, infogrames or firaxis.

There is also the folder for Install Shield.

There is a hiden directory in the program files directory which contains setup info. It's named soemthing like InstallShield Installaitin Information. Rename that to soemthing elsde, reinstyall Civ3, and copy the folder created in that directory over the once in the old directory, and name it back.
