  • MAP: Midkemia ver. 3.01 (100 * 80)

This map is a map as depicted in the books of Raymond E. Fiest
This is a work in progress, and as of yet the only rule changed is the size of the map.
I am still working on this map, I still cant find the book, "Prince of blood" which is the only book of his that has maps of kesh, so kesh is just thrown in as what i can think of. The read-me that comes with the map has more on the map itself.

Enjoy, and please post replies of what you think, if you have read his books

The picture of this map is at the bottom

    of this thread thankyou!

this map is 180 wide by 80 high so the screenshot is deceptive in its proporitoning, but it is extremely good, I think anyway. Also please give ANY AND ALL FEEDBACK YOU HAVE SOON!!! I will be releasing a scenario version of this map full of alterations in a week to two at the most and would really like feedback thankyou.

      Version 3.00 in the works

Thanks to the help of fieryphoenix I have been able to locate a comlete map of the continent of triagia. This map is about twice the width of those found in most of his books so will mean the creation of a large too huge map. Im not sure. This will be the last stage of map making. After this map is compleated in two to four weeks I will start the fine tweaking of the scenario. The plan is to alter the civ names, hero names, city names, and unit names. That will come after the map itself is compleated. Thanks a million for the pointer fieryphoenix must apreciated. This is still a major work in progress so any input is welcome.

Is this the map you used?

I am a big fan of Feist, ever since Magician many years ago. I will download the map. I volunteer to playtest if you need any volunteers.

That is the map I am going to use

for the finale version, or at least for the finale map, still will have the scenario itself to work on next. The map I used for this is the map found in the cover of, "Rage of a Demon King". It is a good map but not complet. My idea for the next map, since it is so much longer vertically than the current map, is to widen the map out to include Novindus very far away from Triagia in the middle of a vast ocean. I plan on their being no more than ten start locations on the map, and ten civs I make, but besides the kindom, kesh, and the tsurrani, im not sure what other civs to add. I have city, leader, and unit names for these civs, but im not sure what else I can add in. Possibly startdock could become its own race of magicians led by Pug, just an idea. Could use ideas for the names. I don't plan on releasing the next map untill I have a lot of these littlte details done.

            Civs to make

Well, how about the Eledhel, Moredhel and dwarves, for starters?

Roldem and Queg are not large world powers in Midkemia, but
then again, neither were the Zulu, Iroquois, or Aztecs in ours.

I don't know about the Tsurani... they came way late and never
had their own state. Too bad you can't script the Riftwar yet...
you could have called your scenario "Master of Tsuranuani".

I'd vote for a version with Novindus... you don't need to make
the ocean all THAT large, just enough to prevent travel until the
technology becomes available. That would allow you to pick a
couple of Novindan civs, the Jalpur nomads, Maharta or Ispar,
for instance. Although not so believable as even the Moredhel,
you could include the Pantathians there.

That makes 12, including Pantathians and Tsurani.

Don't forget to have fun while you do this!

              Thanks for feedback

I will use your suggestions for civs, and I have on last idea I would like feedback on, for now at least.

Since as the story goes Novindus is only reachable across the "endless sea". I am thinking about cutting off the map on the right hand side with a thin strip of mountains. It would be a little past Roldem, and would prevent travel to Novindus except across the endless sea.

This would fit the scenario more, but may make gameplay slightly more challenging for those that would aim to conquer all.
              FEEDBACK PLEASE

                Endless Sea

I wouldn't bother with the mountains, they will only ruin the
map. Besides, I doubt the "Endless Sea" is anything larger
than the Atlantic or Pacific. Remember that Kingdom ships
pretty much deal only with two Mediterranean-size seas, so
the ocean would be an endless sea compared to them.
And, after all, Calis went there many
times, and from both west across the "Endless Sea", and
east after sailing down and around Kesh. Can't be THAT hard.
Just put plenty of deep ocean tiles in every direction around
                it.

                  Thanks for the reply

Next question, does anybody out there know how to change the civ names on the select your civ screen. So far I can click on where it says babylon, and instead of hammurabi it says, Borric King of the Isles. But I can't yet figure out how to get the civ choices to chage to say; The Isles. Great Kesh, Pantathians, Tsurrani, Hidati, Eledhel. and so forth.

Next question Should the, "Kindom of The Isles" Actually start out where Rillinon is (There capitol city in the book). This is a very small location and would only be enough room for one city, and if they should, should I give them mapmaking from the start so they can actually get off there island and create the great Kindom of the Isles.

                  Please reply!

The project is progressing very well

however I have been temp. stalled due to finals at school, or I would have already been done. The map is finished and all I have left is the bits and pieces to due. I have customized five of the twelve civs that will be in the scenario so far. The customizing includes city names, great hero names, the title of the king, name of the king and such forth. I am still trying to figure out what civ specific unit each civ should have. I am not including the lower end of kesh, just the full upper portion of midkimia as before, along with novindus. EACH CIV WILL NOT BE EQUAL. I am fideling with the slider bar for aggerssion to make civs like the tsurrani (mispelled) all out agressive with a terribly powerful civ specific unit, probably a cavalry with twelve attack. However I will be messing with all the units capabilities to make this fair, every civ will have its place. The quegans will have two civ specific units, one a powerful pirate the other ???. My final exams are over as of now and I am again at work. I am planning for the relase in a week too two at the most. However the GOM at the civfanatics forum is taking up a lot of my time right now. It's a Diety game and extremely difficult. Ounce that game is finished with I will be paying full attention to my little project. Novindus has to be realligned I messed its placing up bad, but this is what it looks like so far!

                        and here it is

This is just the rough draft of the map so that you can see what it will be. I haven't yet added the good stuff to it just laid out the land to see how it looks. It is 180wide by 80high so it is actuall a lot different than it looks. Then main land is essintialy the same land and novindus is looking good but need's centered.

                            Version 3.01 is out now!!

This is a new version with a few alterations. The map has been tweaked and is more correct, Novindus is included, it is a 180wide by 80high map so the screenshot is quite decieving. Their is exatly twelve of every resource, except four uranium, and eight of every luxery. This is just the map the actual scenario should be out in a week or so I hope it doesn't take to long. It will be on a different thread since it is not going to be just a map, but an entire scenario based upon the world of midkemia. This is for those that like the map, but don't want to play a scenario. enjoy! AND PLEASE IF YOU THINK ANYTHING WHATSOEVER NEEDS CORRECTED OR ALTERED IN ANY WAY GIVE FEEDBACK SOON SO I CAN FIX IT BEFORE THE RELEASE OF THE SCENARIO!!! The scenario will be my final release of this map until the release of play the world and its full editor, I can't wait.
