help: wont start game after tweaking in the editor

i might be stupid but
i've installed 1.17 then went to editor and changed number of civs on standard map to 10 (in the civ3mod file) and the game won't start a new one
what is the problem?

You probably have the incorrect version of 1.17f (there is one with the wrong version of the editor). The correct editor can be downloaded from this site.
