  • MAP: World Map incl. CPF

It`s the same thing I post at CFC. But why I should post it not here?

I have created an other world map with more or less correct starting locations. The Map is based on the [Huge] Firaxis Map (180x180) and it is basicly for Civers who have problems with Marlas Map because Marlas is too large. Its my first map, but there are lots of changes compared to the Original Firaxis Map. The most important are: Europe is much larger and all the coastlines are much mor accurate.
The readme is german only, sorry. If anyone is interested in translate the readme - feel free to do that.

Here is a screenshot. Please comment. Thanks.

The File (v.1.1) is available only at the Civ Universum. The reason for this is simple. I plan to make new versions and now I have not to splitt this newer version around.

      Version1.2

Now the second version (v.1.2) is available at the Civ Universum. There are some changes like:

      - starting locations moved
+ Americans moved southern a few squares,
+ Zulus moved eastwards (near the Civ2-starting-location)
+ Aztekes moved to Mexico City (instad of starting at Yukatan)
+ Persians moved to soth-east. It is still not the korrekt starting location, because Persepolis is situated only 2 squares away from Babylon, so I put it between Babylon and Dehli.

      - terrains are changed
+ some smaller changes in Asia, Europe, South America and Australia
+ it IS changed the eastcoast of US/Canada
+ (NOT added any new rivers, but added some lakes)
+ some coastlines are corrected again (Mexico and some smaller others)

      - some ressource placements are changed (more whales, uranium, fish...)

Any comments, ideas, suggestions for v.1.3?

I always play standard maps for game progress reasons.
However, I want to try this map.

How does this map compare to standard maps in terms of size and progress rate (how many civs included, still 'playeable' in modern era in terms of process time between turns?)?

        Thanks!

Well it's still a [Huge] map, made for up to 16 Civs. That means you are defining how much civs will be involved. The process time between turns is also dependent on your config, so I really can't say anything about then this: One of the testers sad, the time between the turns is still not really short, but much shorter then on Marlas Map. On my own system it takes still a few minutes in modern times (1..2 min). If you named this playable is again a question of how you definig "playable".

I prefere standard maps for playing to. One reason for take a huge map for this world map was: Standard world maps are to small to show Europe (and other parts of the word) more or less correct. And on standard maps with historical starting locations starts all the european civs to much near to eachother and the island civs England and Japan have no chance to win, becouse they can build only one, may be two, cities on ther starting island.
