  • Civ 3 Scenario Editor in the works!!!

And I bet you thought it would be an official one too, hehe!!!

Well about 6 months ago I wrote a save game editor ( follow link below )

I ( with the help of Gramphos ) started to pull appart the sav file format, and in turn we both came up with our own editors for changing parts the of the sav file, ie start locations, current year, etc, Gramphos soon caught up with me and started to implement adding and removing citys & units, and I started work on a visual editor ( one with a map of the world ), and then at this point I stopped work on my editor, ( just one of those things really ).

Well now 6 months on, I decided to come back to apolyton and see what the scene was, and what a supprise, not a single scenario editor in sight!!! But that's all about to change as I 've been working on my editor for the past week, and come this weekend you'll all have the very first beginnings of a scenarios editor (Unless firaxis come along and do one instead), things will be very basic to start with so please be patient.

This is not a joke (Gramphos can back me up on this, if he ever stops working on his school work!!!).

    Cheers.
    James.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for the XP for events.

I can't make my Star Wars scenario until I have events. Hopefully they'll be AT LEAST as powerful as those in Civ2.

    Or else.

I hope to be able to clean up around my computer this weekend and should most likely find the info about units then. I'll send it to you if I find it.

Good to see that you are back to work with the editor.

Infogrammes issued a C&D order on a translation project because they planned to release it.... Do Firaxis plan to release a scenario editor? If so...
              Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Hope fully I should have adding & removing Units and Entire Civilizations in the first build, although removing an entire civ from a save game will needs lots of testing, I'm going to post a thread on what people want in the editor, just so that I have a list of things to work from.

I had a look at the UNIT section last night, and I found tile XY, health, unit type, who the unit belongs to, etc, and what the unit is currently doing, ie irrigation, mine, etc. Also there are two things that change the nationalilty of the unit, int your editor you have owner and nationality, what's with that???

Any way must fly, work to be done.

                Cheers.
                James.

If they do then I shall stop, it's just the fact is that we don't have one at all, it doesn't matter where it comes from.

                  Cheers.

There was some extenuating circumstances in that translation situation, it's not as black & white as it first appears.

                        Ok,

If any one would like a (one) feature to be seen in the editor then post it here, I will then post a poll so that I can get some sort of order from it. You must only post once, wheather it be adding/removing units or citys, or that special feature so you can make that WWII scenario ( I hope some one does. )

I'll put up a poll of the list in about 24 hours.

                        Cheers.

I know you can't put this in there, but, hey, why not?

                            I want an events editor.
