Adding Wonders and Improvements

How can I add city improvements and wonders? I'd love to add in a couple "Forbidden Palace" like wonders and maybe a couple city improvements.

I've tried using the editor by renaming things I never build, but they never show up in my build queue. I realize that some buildings have specific requirements that aren't editable in the editor.

I've seen some MODs and such where people say they've added buidlings. Are you using some other kind of editor? Can I play with that too?
