  • Tactical Nukes, purpose?

Ok, whenevery I nuke a city why doesn't the troops garrisoning it die? How do they survive a nuclear blast? Whats the point in nuking a city if it doesn't even kill the military personnel? Is it a bug or are the nukes not suppose to kill units?

AFAIK the chance of a nuke to kill a unit is 50%.

You mean even if I win the 50% gamble it would only kill on unit? and what is AFAIK? The nukes should kill everybody.... thanks for the reply

AFAIK = As far as I know.

As far as I know (), every unit hit by a nuke gets a 50% chance to survive, i.e. if there are 5 units for every one of them the 50% check is made and then at the end there are 1 to 5 kills.
        Most likely 2 or 3.

Nuclear weapons are underpowered in general in Civ. The city itself shouldn't be usable for a loooong time and there surely shouldn't be any buildings left.
On the other hand there a different sizes of nukes which is not modelled in Civ.

I'd suggest to just take it as gameplay decision and adapt to it.

Edit: In the FAQ it says that at least one unit is killed.

          Not only that,

units which stay are heavlity injured, and many buildings are destroyed.

BEST TACTIC. Try to take city in next turn.
You'll be suprised how easy is that.

          On the other hand,

          so much polution and deserts.
