  • MOD: MonsterMan's Mod

    Okay I finalized my own mod

    You get 25 new units, most with their own graphics, civilopedia entry and icons. You get eleven new resources, three buildings and a new government. There is plenty of more information on the site I created for the mod; the link is in my sig. The mod is for version 1.17f only.

    I'm going to create screenshots and the like asap. I really hope you'll enjoy it!

    the link for offensive units isnt working, and can you please put a readme in your files that says who you are, and credits who you got ideas/art from? I usually look within the file for who to credit if I use their ideas, since I'm usually downloading throughout the week and then messing around with them on the weekend.

      I've fixed the link and added readme's.

      Now updated with screenshots of all the units.

        I'd like to tell people about v2 of my mod. It is over 15mb big so you can understand why I'm not posting it here :-) There is a wealth of information about the mod at my site, but to peak your interest you might want to know there are 24 new units that have their own unique graphic, dozens of new resources and five new buildings, all with their own icons. Also, every single entry has its own detailed spot in the civilopedia which has also been updated with the new info. Oh... and you get to rule with two new governments too.

        There are lots of screenshots available if you click the link above so you can really judge before downloading.

              I don't have much time for play testing, but after someone trys this out let me know how it stacks up against the other big mods that have been put out ( BALANCER, LWC, BLitz, etc...) Thanks for the great work!

                  Err Crash?

                  Err crashes? is that supposed to happen after researching writing and or other advances? And why does some advances have a diffrent picture i mean like an aincent time advance having the "military trad" pic whats up with that? Was the mod designed for the release version or 1.17f

                    monsterman, change writing to use icon number 81 and don't let any tech use icon 82. that should fix the icon problem.

                      I should have payed more attention to that problem.

                      I will finalize my next incarnation of the mod tonight and reupload it, with some other bugfixes as well.

                      Btw Lt. Johansson, yes it's made for 1.17, and it won't run on earlier versions. Thanks for calling my attention, guys!

                          My only recommendation would be to bundle up the download a little better. The site you use shuts down after a give amount of bandwidth and shuts down. This limits the ability to pull this down. Bundle the files up and make it a 1 or 2 file download. I am not sure that everyone will have kittens over a 15 MB download.

                            Erm, couple of problems. I installed everything from the main zip into my civ3 directory, put all the unit graphics in their own folders in Units. However, whilst in game whenever the science advisor tells me I've researched a tech, the wrong icon is used; e.g. the icon for Computers is used for Wheel.
                            Secondly, I wanted the Hanging Gardens wonder to put a Bath house in every city on the continent - changed it in the editor but has no effect in-game. What gives?

                              Have you removed the file with backups of the original files? I couldn't see them anywhere on your site.
