New Map Editor?

Has Firaxis/Infogrames released a new Map Editor? I edited the Kitten of Chaos huge world map (very slightly) using the original map editor, but when I went to load it, I got an error message that 3.0 files were no longer supported! The original Kitten of Chaos map worked fine on my machine, so I don't see how editing it changed it to not working. I have patch 1.17f installed and the Safe Disk Patch (actually a different civ3.exe file) installed on my ME with Atholon 800 Presario 7000.
