  • LEADERS and ARMIES

I bought civ3 a couple about a week ago and I'm learning it. I had previously been a big fan of civ2 but hadn't played it for about a year so i'm a bit rusty.
last night I obtained a leader for the first time. I couldn't work out how you use him to make an army. could somebody tell me exactly what you have to do/ what buttons to press.

    Thanks,

    Take The Hill

    1. Make sure you have at least 4 cities
    2. take him to a city
    3. click the create army button

ok its not working for me. One of my Roman Legionarries became a leader -Trajan- I brought him to Rome (size:12) and I can't find anything that says "create army." I have 4 cities (I think). I don't know what size constitutes a city, but I figured its anything that has surpassed the Aqueduct stage (pop 7 i think??) Regardless, my 4 highest are Rome: 12, Veii: 12, Antium: 12, and Memphis: 11. The only 2 things I can think that might be the problem are: 1. Memphis wasn't built by Rome.. it was Egyptian, and then I conquered it. Or, 2. The red border surrounding Memphis is not attached to the red border surrounding the rest of my towns because it is too far away form the rest. Please advise. Thanks.

          Right click

dbconfessional, I think you need to right click on him. There is a lot of right click procedures in the game.

rightg clicking didn't work, and there was no build army icon in the city. The only thing that worked was pressing "b" while he was on the city square. So I made a 3 legionary army. They worked very well, util i got cocky and died. My question is, can I remove units form an army to add other units. I wanted to remove a legionary and add a knight, but I didn't know how.

On a side note, if a Legionary and a Pikeman both have defense of 3, is there any difference in using them to defend a city?

Knights and War Elephants have the same stats 4/3/2. Whats so special about war elephants. The only good thing I can see about them is that thye don't require any resources such as hores or iron.

No, you can't unload units from an army, or even upgrade them.

No difference between Legionary and Pikeman - that's what makes Greeks (Hoplite has defense 3 as well) and Romans kick ass in the Ancient Age,

Not requiring horse or iron is one hell of an advantage.
