  • MAP: Accurate world map, accurate resource placement, correct startsites.

    By kittenOFchaos...(based on Marla's Map.)

    Prepared thread:

Here's my situation. I was playing civ at the prince level for a while, and then I stopped. I am now trying to get back into civ and am wondering which civ you all suggest(I used to play Romans, bu tnow I'm not so sure) I also thought that this would bring up an interesting discussion on...

Download it from civfanatics and view the pictures there

Very well done! I can see that you put a bit of effort into that. I'm impressed with the detail, it looks very much like the real thing. Good job!

Thanks! I'll remind you that it is based upon Marla Singer's excellent World Map...but he never looked for accurate resource placement and never spent as much time as me on Western Europe in particular.

Will be releasing a newer version soon (an hour?) and in the future there will be grander changes.

Here is the screenie of what an older version looked like (W.Europe):

Well since I don't want to give the game totally aware as to where resources ARE! I will only be releasing in-game screenies...so give me a bit more time.

Version 6...now you can download it from Apolyton

All is explained in the readme file or failing THAT at the thread over at civfanatics:
"Civ3 on Earth" has been updated to take advantage of the features of Civ3 1.29f. The major improvement being that players no longer need to use "Gramphos's Civilization Placement Tool". I know, I know, I should have done this months ago :p I will be making a signifcant update to "Civ3...

Screenies are now on that civfanatics thread too...

See I don't hate you apolytoners

Download removed as it isn't compatible with patch 1.17f and one other problem...

Version 7 is out at CIVFANATICS...it is very well playtested by yours truely and is VERY good fun. I am not providing version 7 at Apolyton as the response has been less than good over here and I'm not too interested in futhering Apolyton as a mod community.

Okay just the one screenie...for you lot

Notice that France has taken Nottingham (where modern day Plymouth is)...my empire is the Russians visible in the East.

Yes the screenie ain't great but in the civfantics thread you can even get the saved game... I'm not pimping

Hell have the saved game aswell:

(saved game is of version 5...version 6 is better)

My next work will be after the patch which seems to offer ALOT!

                1 download!!! WOOT!

In the same time I've had 36 from Civfanatics on top of about 400 from the other versions in total...is this poor traffic? Or apathy to civ3 here in apolyton?

Well nothing personal, you've done a great job. But personaly I prefer playing on a random map. No opportunity for exploration if you know where everything is already.

                    NOTE!

ALL CIVILISATION PLACEMENT TOOLS e.g civbreed and CPT do not work if you have patched your game to 1.17f

THIS PATCH IS TO BE AVOIDED WITH THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS IT HAS AT PRESENT.

                      CPT should work now.
I could have made it faster if i hadn't made it still work with old saves

Let me know if it doesn't. *sigh*, I've almost no time to test things today. And I feel spamed. Can't go online on ICQ.

I didn't tell you to, I suggested it. Geez, you make me sound like some sort of tyrant.

NOTE: If you have patched to 1.17f you need the latest Civilisation Placement Tool.

                            Download from:

I will not be updating this thread in future but will be keeping to civfanatics where the interest warrants my attention and where I have presented things more fully:

Here's my situation. I was playing civ at the prince level for a while, and then I stopped. I am now trying to get back into civ and am wondering which civ you all suggest(I used to play Romans, bu tnow I'm not so sure) I also thought that this would bring up an interesting discussion on...

As for me doing a Europe map...certainly, once I finish some of my academic work I will...I will release that through civfanatics more likely than not.
