  • Fantasy mod

My fav Civilization game was the Civ 2 - Fantastic Worlds, because its got lots of elements. Personally im a big fantasy fan, and it would be great to see a fantasy mod for Civ 3 too.
Making one wont be easy, because of the unit animations, and a fantasy world requires lots of different monsters maybe races.
If there is someone, who wanna make one, contact me, because I will help to make it.

Actually, the graphics may be the easiest part, if you're willing to compromise your morals some.

Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim seems to use sprites that are of a similar scale to the ones used in CivIII, and someone's already ripped the Slinger graphics from Age of Empires 2...

Combining those with choice units already in the game should be enough.

Fret Not, For I am on the Job

Well I did a civ2 fanatsy mod with a more realistic tech tree, and Since civ3 allows for soooo much more I will be able to create a really good scenario for this one too, As soon as certain hard coded elements are hacked by some good friends on here. Stay tuned

p.s. anything you liked/disliked about civ2 fantasy stuff?

I dropped the idea. I realized that we cant create special things, what are needed for a fantasy mod - like spells, special abilities for units etc. However we could make a medieval mod with lots of differ units like spearmen, swordsmen, axemen, halberdiers etc.

BlueO's amazons are naked female versions of a lot of the units, as well as a few unique designs. In a technical sense, the graphics are very well done. (That is, I'm not just saying that because they're naked women.)

But the mod also includes four techmech designs -- power armor, mech, gundam, and a Dragon Dreadnaught that looks like it comes from Rifts Atlantis, but BlueO won't answer that question, so maybe it's parallel evolution. They'd be good for a fantasy modern age, at least, if you're not fond of naked women fighting your wars.

BlueO subscribes to the rapid prototyping school of design, so it's split up among several posts. His suggestion for rules changes is at

But if you're just interested in the graphics, you can get the women at

                and the scifi stuff at

He's also got a pair of "realistic" units at

                  Fantasy is possible

I've been looking at alot of the editing sites and decoding and a mage is a simple enough concept, I'm working on it at the moment, but work takes alot of my time so dont hold your breath, esentially a mage will be an 'army' and he'll hold a set of spells similar to a 'aircraft carrier' holding planes, the spells wont be able to travel far, and will be destroyed if left outside of a mage or a town (local mage school) spells will only be creatable in a town with a mages tower (maybe a small wonder or something) and can easily be edited to not affect corruption/troop limit/gove types, etc etc, Hey, I can even create spells that Do affect these areas of the game, how about a mage that at his tower, can create a happyness spell, then travels to a town with a high corruption or low cultre or something and "casts" (moves the spell from himself to the town) the spell over the town, and the spell/troops abilities improve the towns benefits. damaging spells will cause huge damage but be used up, and beneficial spells like shield or something, will have high defence values placed on the "army" a.k.a mage.

Hehe nice ideas, but I think a medieval mod could be done but not the fantasy. Its ok Civ games are not for fantasy lovers.
