To FIRAXIS: Civ3 and VMware

I'm seriously considering running Linux. The only problem is Civ3. VMware does support DirecX, or parts of it, but not Direct3D.

My question is therefore: Is it possible to play Civ3 through VMware?
I know the speed-penalty and I know about dual-booting, I just want to know if it is possible.

Yes, I used to do it all the time. Make sure you ahve enough RAM for both Windows and GNU/Linux, though.
