HELP: Video Problem - Downshifted Text

Some of the text in my game seems to be drastically downshifted. This would not be a problem, except for the fact that the way it works on the diplomacy screen will prevent me from ever clicking the "Active" trade control, thus eliminating my ability to end rights of passage, MPPs, embargos, alliances, and any per-turn deals. However, it's not all text - in the title menu, for example, the version number is exactly where i'd expect it, but the copyright info is cut off. In the diplomacy menus, the maps are all fine, as are the possible trades, but the accept/deny options are shifted. Examples follow, with errors outlined helpfully:

There's a thread a bit further down the page that addresses this. At least this solution very easily solved what sounds like the same problem on my machine.
