is there an effective way to completely abandon a city yet? i would like to know. i've read a suggestion saying i have to have zero growth with 2 people in a city then build a settler but it doesnt work because the city site automatically produce food giving it 4 or 5 turn/growth. i'm really getting frustrated with this so please help. thanks in advance for those who take the time to read this and respond.

i'm working on the same problem. specifically, buying out enemy cities and then trying to bleed them to death cause they aren't where you want them. anyway, this is what the problem tends to boil down to:
a city built on a floodplain (or, presumably, a resource), it is impossible to get the city to a state of zero growth. to make this worse, i'm not sure it's possible to *always* get the city to break even at two population (ie, if the city is surrounded by squares that make either no food or more than one food, you'll have problems).
i'm going to go test this...
that said, it would be a lot better if there was a simple abandon city button.it's just my opinion. can you dig it?

Hey guys, yes its possible to abandon a city. Either bleed it down to 2 (and build a settler) or 1 (and build a worker) but the key is to make sure the city has NO food. If there is any growth, no matter how slow or small, the city will wait and build the settler when there is enough food, even if you have rushed it. You've gotta starve the buggers out.God protect me from my friends, I can protect myself from my enemies.
