  • Modify 2050 end date

I have looked through the editor and such, but I cannot find a way to modify the games terminal point, is there anyway to do this? Thanks ahead of time.

From what i have seen about this no. Not possible to modify end game date or # of years a turn takes with editor. Maybe by hacking the exe but have never tried it.

hey, if you figure anything out about it, please tell me (my emial is johncmcleod@yahoo.com). Could somebody please try hacking the .exe? The end date is SO stupid. They don't have a reason to have one, and it makes the game so much worse. Well, maybe having an end date isn't such a bad idea, but you should definitely be able to adjust it. 2050 A.D. is way too early!

You can continue playing after that date, you just don't get any more points added to your final score.

I have to agree with johncmcleod - though Willem does point out that you can continue the game after no longer collecting culutural points and no chance of entering the List of Leaders. I do not want to keep playing though, if I cannot continue to develop and compete for the various victory conditions. I think that the 2050 date should have been available in the Rules section of the game conditions - to disable if the player chooses - or better yet modify ... just an idea

I think both the start date and the save date is in the saves, but I've not seen any utility that changes them yet. I might add that to a later version of C3CT. But I haven't seen them in the BICs.

I haven't seen anything in the Editor either, which is rather unusual.

I posted a new SAV game editor in the Creation forum (if it's not there check Files). It lets you change the retirement date in a .SAV game. It seems to work well. Check it out. I think they picked 2050 arbitrarily to keep the history and replay information from growing too large. 2050 is hard-coded into the .EXE file for new games, but the value the game checks for on each turn is in the .SAV file.

For the Mac version you also can't change it. The end of game year is way too early. It has made me lose becaus emy score was lower, yet I could have wiped out my enemys.

The goal of a civ game isn't to wipe out your enemies. You might have had a better military, but that AI had a better civilization

I have only had one game go to 2050 and that was my first game. I was at war for nearly the whole game that time. Since then all my games have ended before 2000.

It would be nice if you could change it though. I just don't see much need for it. At least not after you learn a little about how to play better.
