  • CONCEPT:Different graphics for each age

Is it possible to get graphics to changes for each age (maybe like 2194 days for Civ 2)?
    For example

    Roadsirt path, cobblestones, ?, highways
    Irrigationifferent farms
    Mines
Terrain: Maybe oceans can change color. This would be especially useful for a scenario like the Mars one heardie is making. Maybe each age the terrain gets greener, or maybe oceans start red but turn to water later.
Does any graphics person know if this is possible? I mean we have age specific advisors, so why not terrain?

It's not doable given the current system used in the game, and I don't think anything like that will be added. The terrain system is pretty complex and terrain that changes per era could add a lot of memory overhead to a total that's already pretty big.

In case you hadn't noticed from the subtle changes made by the v1.16f patch installer, though, you can now use a different set of era-specific graphics and animations (and sound) for each unit ..

Humm. Don't the city tiles change w/ each era? I would think that would mean road & mines & irrigation could change too. Not sure why something like this would add to memory overhead...

& if we can have era-specific graphics & animations for each unit, then the modern era 'spearman' should be able to be rendered as some sort of 'irregular militia' like the PLO or Taliban in the modern era. Which what I tend to think of them as like anyway. (& no, I hadn't noticed that suble change. I might have though if some new era-specific graphics & animations had been included. Or maybe I missed those too, since I was already in the modern era when I installed the patch. Or perhaps I will when/if I start a new game?) Good news, I think!

      Thanks,
