  • HELP!!!!! with Trade Embargo

OK, this will probably sound rather silly or even stupid....

But....how do I put an end to a Trade Embargo?
I tried everything I could think of, read the manual, looked in the forums...still I can't put an end to a Trade Embargo I proposed to another civ. Now I want to trade with the embargoed civ...and can't lift the embargo

Can someone please help? I bet the answer will make me look stupid......still I'd like to have it.

I think you should go to the civ you have the embargo with(not against), and end the existing treathy.

You can only end an embargo after the fixed 20 turn duration. After this you can go to the civ you have the embargo with, click on 'Active' (as in active agreements) and click on the embargo agreement to remove it, then exit the negotiation screen.

Thanks. I KNEW I was being dumb!

By the way, does it say this anywhere on the manual?

I stopped using the manual about 2 days after I bought the game - it's a waste of space!

Yes, it seems to be very badly organized.
Most information is there, I guess. But to find it...that's another thing.

Have you thought of trying the PDF version? With the search capabilities of Acrobat, maybe that is the way to find what you need in it?

I suppose a .pdf format would be useful for searchability reasons, but in my opinion you're better off using the Civilopedia and Apolyton. The manual tells you the very basics only. If you read some of the the threads here you'll realise how much it doesn't say. I suppose part of the fun of a game is finding out things for yourself, but I wonder what those guys at Fireaxis are on sometimes! The release of the original game was way too early, full of bugs and even the editor they relieased did not do what they said eg could not alter corruption influecing variables.
