Tech-tree viewer?

Is there a utility which allows someone to view the tech tree like in the science avisor screen without having to start civ3?

Because when i'm editing, it'e easy to loose track off all the changes i made to advances.

the viewer is almost ready now.
It ain't as pretty as the science advisor screen, but it gives me the info.
If anyone is interested, i'll upload it.
It's written in Java, so you'll need the Java Runtime Environment to run it which you can dowload here, or if you have windows 98, i also got an exe file that will work.

this is the other one, you need the Microsoft Virtual Machine for java to run this one, it comes standard with win98, not sure about the newer versions

Some ideas
1. Scroll-bars: Please, quikly release a new version with scroll-bars. Once I start editing, my tech-tree sometimes goes off the screen and there are no scroll-bars!
2. I like the way your program arranges techs in columns. Perhaps you could get it to rearrange the bics that way.
3. A dream yes...take the x,y co-ords of the buttons in your program, and then edit the bic file, to set their x,y co-ords. That would be cool...

hmm, there is supposed to be a limit, if the x-coord is outside the window, it should be changed to just inside the window

i think i could do that, don't know how long it will take...

I added a new feature yesterday, if you select a advance, it also calculates how research points are needed to research that advance and any advance required, so you get the minimum research points needed for each advance if you select it.

think i'll go add the scrollbars now.

btw, which version are you using heardie?

I use the *.exe version.

The difference between 2 and 3 is:
2. Just change the order the techs are arranged in the bic file
3. Change the x+y values of the techs (in Civ3Edit, x,y co-ords for each tech)

Cool program! Maybe u should be able to save the placement of techs that you set?

i uploaded a new version, i edited my old posts.

new features:
*total cost of a advance and required advacnces is now shown in the advance info window
*scrollbars!!!
*you can now save the x and y-coords of a advance.

about the scrollbars:
the entire field where the buttons are placed is now 2000x1500 pixels big, that should be big enough i hope

i haven't added point 2 yet, rearranging the bic file.
it's a bit more difficult than i thought, and my school is starting tommorow again, so the next update may take a while longer
