  • MOD: Names2 mod

    This bic picks up where Sevorak's citynames file leaves off. Among others, principal changes in this are;
    - Egyptians: Egyptian names replace Greek names or modern Arabic names for archaeological sites.
    - Persians: some changes to city names replacing archaeological sites with ancient city names.
    - Chinese: all names are now Pinyin spelling, and Mongolian leaders replaced with Chinese ones.
    - Zulus: full complement of leaders, capital changed to Kwa Bulawayo from Zimbabwe (which had nothing to do with the Zulus)
    - Indians: Some city names altered so they're cities, not regions or rivers.
    - Greeks: Minor changes... some Latin names "re-hellenised"
    - Iroquois: Adjustments to leader and city names to eliminate English and French colonial names.
    - English: reorganised, removed Welsh and Scottish cities and the mysterious "Clinton" leader (who?)
    - Barbarian names modified for accuracy.
    - "Wall Street" changed to the non-nation-specific "Stock Exchange"
As with CityNames, this does nothing but change names.

    Clinton

Clinton is General Sir Henry Clinton, British commander in chief in North America from 1777-1782, during the American Revolution. He replaced Sir William Howe as C-in-C. Since Americans made Civ III, naturally a large number of the leaders are going to be tied into American history, even if they aren't very well known to the nations they come from. lol I noticed very few of Britian's post-Yorktown colonial leaders were included.

Huh? I posted in Sevorak's mod, if that's what you mean. However, here is my civ3. I have combined many city lists, and have given first names to some leaders. I also changed some naval unit stats, and added a couple governments from other mods.

Tell me, should I advertise it as its own mod?

Problem: It thinks my file is called "attachment." The same with yours.

Sorry - credit to Sevorak, then. Names2 is based on that mod.
Btw, I came across General Clinton when I was reading up the Iroquois but wasn't sure if it was the same man.

I believe there are a few duplicate city names in this mod: Argos (Greece), Coventry (England), and Patna (India) are the ones that I noticed.

Hmm.... I'll check on that. Thanks.

Purple is correct - Coventry, Patna and Argos all appear twice. Sorry! I've fixed that. I also spotted that "Cornwall" is an English "City". Replaced it.
I also forgot to mention that Russian city names have been reorganised to favour older cities being built first.
                      Here's the revised file.

It's cool. Some of them seem to be bugs, so expect those fixed in a future patch.

                          Thanks.

Just downloaded it. I haven´t tested it yet, but I like historical accuracy, so this mod seems to be great!
