  • Help on start placing for LOTR Scn

I have started on a LOTR scn, but cant get the civs in their start locations, the game starts out with a set number of settlers and only Mordor gets more and then at monarchy, on top of that workers are not allowed for the majority of Civs, but the basic barb is a worker, so its slave raids to the areas of the map that they "grow" in. The idea is that a managable amount of provinces(instead of citys) will allow a speedier game, coupled with the provinces usually in the correct area.

What i would like help with is to put the civs in the correct start spots, if anyone can help post here, thnks in advance.

    Hi Nick

You can't. Notice the lack of Civ3 scenarios? That's why. There is no way to place units or cities. I'd start on the rules if I were you, and wait until Firaxis give you a patch.
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Wombat, this is where im at at the moment
Ok ive got a LOTR Scn for civIII, if you want to take a look, email me and ill send it on, its as a start.SAV and you just unpack in the save folder. Select a save game and your of.

This is an early go, the editor is very quirky, ive managed to get Gondor, Arnor, Mordor, Rohan, Easterlings, Mirkwood elves in the correct start place, Imladris and the Haradrim are arse about face though. Working on it.

The race specific Mordor bowmen are in the game but crash it, so if you dont click to build them you wont get a crash, other than that their are no other probs, that i know about.

You must play as Mordor, you have 3 settlers, everyone else gets 5/6, but only you can build settlers, limit yourself to a max of 1 for the s/e of mordor and another for anywhere you like. only a few civs get workers, but they also appear in barb camps, so that is why you want areas that arnt colonised, you just move in and capture every so often the workers you need.

lots of rule and unit changes, will do a full list when its all sorted. No new art, FLC animations, to keep DL size small.

If you have any comments let me know.

Actually guys, I've noticed a file in the FILES section of the forum called a "Civ placement tool (CPT)" You might want to look at it and see if that will help you (apparently its a "Civ Breeder" program!) Anyway, I hope that information helps you, and I look forward to the FIRST LOTR scenario
