Only there seems to be more this time. Oh well, into CtP sprite format they go
Year I guess in CTP sprite format they will look a great deal better. Do they have transparent pixels for instance? However the size of CTP sprites is smaller with a higher quality.
Ctp2 units were of higher quality. Those were anti-aliased and rendered at about 50% larger size. I made a choice, to keep the size of the amazon units at the same size as the other units. The disadvantage to that is, the unit graphics are not as .. detailed as the ones from ctp2.
Did you ever tried CTP2 with one of the mods, especialy the lastest Cradle version?
What do you think about the idea to return to CTP2? As CTP2 offers much more e.g. better graphics. More possibilities to mod the game (slic, open text files). And finally it is possible to fix the AI. Cradle achieved a lot on this field. (I already know how to implement it into my GoodMod.)
I stopped playing ctp2 about a year ago. It was just so broken, and at the time, none of the mods really made it fun.
Civ3 on the other hand, is plain awesome, when compared to ctp2. The first time mutal pact kicked in, with me and 2 ai allies versus the strongest ai and its 2 allies, was awesome. It felt like a real world war, too bad, most of the time, mutal pact just put the world into general chaos war. Still, I remebered the first time mutal pact worked, and it was awesome.
Then there's MAD. Wow, first time I launched all of my nukes at the lead AI to slow down its spaceship construction so I can win, I got hit back by its nukes along with its allies' nukes. There's nothing like seeing your entire empire set back to the stone age .. litterly! as all of the strategic resources got cut off. Then my mutal pact friends hit back my enemies with nukes! Was pretty intense turn.
Looking back at ctp2, I only can think of how boring it was... Civ3 is just more fun, with a really fun ai.

Shhh! Don't you know it's uncool to say that Civ 3 is good and Ctp2 isn't?
They all seem to be very accurate, and I'm curious as to what program you use...

BlueO: Pretty cool models from what I can tell on those tiny previews. Did you make them from scratch, or did you use some general human template or plugin or something? I've been using LW for years myself, but mostly tech stuff and buildings.
Say, I don't suppose, by any chance, you want to share the full LW models? I've become a bit curious about this whole Civ3 unit mod thing myself...
heardie: LightWave isn't too hard to learn, especially considering it's pretty much the most advanced 3D package out there. Far easier than 3Dstudio MAX, which is a complete mess layout-wise, in my opinion.
DragonWarrior: I don't think there are any LightWave trial versions available; it's a pretty heavy-duty prog. Very expensive if you want to buy it. But that doesn't have anything to do with these files. They are just in some Civ3 format, as far as I can tell. And pre-rendered at any rate, since Civ3 doesn't use 3D units.
Hi. Not sure if BlueO is still hanging around to read this, but I wanted to ask how it is that none of these Civ3 units appear to have any dependence on your CTP2 units (at least, the ones in the files section). Is "converting" (or whatever it would be) the CTP2 units a lot of work, or just impossible?
My wishlist would be CTP2's "Amazon Archer," "Valkyrie," and the lady with the whip and machine gun.

Maybe here is the answer Miznia.

In addition to the not antialized and not rendered and the smaller size of the Civ3 units you have consider that CTP2 graphics are all 24 bit true 16 million color graphics. In Civ3 just offers 8 bit 255 collor graphics although the game engine is able to handle 24 bit. That can you see in the odd usage of the *.flc files they are 8 bit graphics but every *.flc file has its own color palette, so every unit is fially a bunch of 8 bit images, but in the end you have more than 255 colors for units available, but this is very weak as the bigger parts of the graphics are terrain garphics and UI art and cities and goods you are looking on these graphics all the time in comparision to the occasional look on the units. In these days it is just poor if you have to play a 8bit graphic Civ game when you already a 24bit graphics Civ game.
If BlueO is still hanging around to read this i was wondering if he was goning to make an amazon worker and settler. That way you could have a full amazon mod
