I'm running ME. After exiting the game, my desktop somehow got corrupt, so I had to reboot. And during the reboot, a message similar to the following was displayed on the screen: Please wait while windows updates your system files... What the heck is that? It looked like that I'd just installed something onto my computer, but actually I did not... Again, I'm very disappointed at Firaxis. I'm not gonna buy anything coming out of it anymore unless it disassociates itself with Infogrames.

That message is actually a bug in ME (as well as 98) where it would often say it's updating your software when it's not. I had a 98 system that said that every time i booted up for months, there's really no harm unless it's taking a considerable amount of extra time in booting up, but I don't think it's a civ3 related problem, probably just an unlikely coincidence. ME is plagued with such nonsense, go figure.
