Good work, player1!
I'd be interested in seeing more improvements for the city screen. In Civ2 (1?), looking at the city screen was a reward for me, because it showed all the nice things that I built in this city, and it showed it in a pretty way, so that I could imagine my people living there and havingf a good time. In Civ3, the city screen looks so artificial that I practically never use it.

At first I tried to put skyscrapers instead of all houses, but then none of buildings could be seen.
And it's not very nice to see skyscrapers blocking the sight on your palace.
So I decided to put skyscrapers just instead of several houses
(25% exactly).
Still,
The biggest problem is how to put houses or skyscrapers in blank spaces
(space left for future buildings). These blank spaces look so atificial.
And don't know how to do it.
Any suggestion?
Firaxis, can something like this be done in patch?
P.S.
I WON'T MIND if Firaxis decides to use this MOD in next EXP. PACK or patch.
In fact, I'll be delighted.Last edited by player1; January 5, 2002, 05:01.

There was to many trees, and in modern age city didn't had any kind of skyscrapers. Even buildings look the same in all ages (modern Granary or Barracks in ancient times).
But in Civ1 it was excellent!
Plus it was integrated in several animations.
Like:
-unrest
-we love the king
-building or wonder built
-city captured
I guess the way it looks that city view wasn't actually completed.
Pity, many things in city view look very nice (all those pictures of buildings, city wall looks, etc...)
It just needed a little polishing.
I think I made it a little better.Last edited by player1; January 5, 2002, 05:02.

As much as I understand this decision - the unpolished city view really is a pity, you're right.

I think the City view has been completed. The reason for its non metropolitan apperance is I think is because every city screen has the same layout, so if you have a city that hasn't built the Great Library then that space will not be filled in with anything. It would be better if these spaces were filled in with houses or skyscrappers and then replaced when you build a hospital or whatever. Better still would be if the area towards the edge of the city filled in with suburbs as your city grows (not individual houses just a single suburb graphic which gets repeated). It is of course all just aesthetics but I also liked the way the city view was used more in the first Civ. I guess this is the price of better graphics.

1) having no skyscrapers in whole city (just in corner)
2) having blank spaces
are the reson why I think City view wasn't finished (properly).
Both things can be done in patch.
(number one alredy done by me)
There is only question of programers will to do it.Last edited by player1; January 5, 2002, 05:04.

How about adding more buildings for the next update?
It's not fun to have Palace invisibe around skyscrapers.
Still, if ANYBODY knows the way of filling blank space in cities let me know.
That is the MAJOR problem.Last edited by player1; January 5, 2002, 05:07.
