Editor Help

Can someone please explain how to make changes to or create a new civilization with the editor? Whenever I try either, I save it as a bic file. I then open it under the "Scenario" option to start a new game. However, it crashes immediately, before the 1st turn. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I never tried to create a new Civ but I read somewhere that the game will not work (i.e. crash?) if you chose a color for a Civ different from the existing standard colors in the game.
