Useless editor

Is this ever disappointing? The editor is useless. Utterly useless. What compelled them to release such garbage? Beats me...
There is no way to zoom out, no map view, you cant place starting positions for each civ or units etc. Is it really that hard to make an editor that is AT LEAST as good as the one for Civ2?
Man! I´ve really tried to like this game, but it´s just tedious and most maps lack geographical accuracy. There were a lot of great geographical maps for Civ2 but I have yet to see one for Civ3.
Will they fix this **** up or do I have to give up playing Civ3?

Am I to understand that it´s not possible to create flat maps? What the hell were they thinking of!? Maybe it´s my comp but the scrolling is terrible as well.
They deserve to be punished for releasing this ****! I´m outta here!

Patch available later this week is supposed to correct the scrolling... but I guess it's too late for you....

The patch didn´t mention starting locations, right? Well, let´s just wait and see what the patch does.

Starting locations won't be fixed I don't think... which is very unfortunate (IMO). (Although using civbreed you can fix the starting locations however you like).

By the way while reading the CivCopyTool thread, it looks like Gramphos has figured out a way to make flat (non-wraparound) maps, so that will make scenario design a bit easier.

You are correct, G Spot, this editor is a step backwards. Civ 2 came out with full scenario-making capabilities, but Civ 3 came out and provides no scenario-making capabilities. Scenario makers like Harlan Thompson, Jesus Balsinde, Techumseh, and myself had been optimistic about the release of Civ 3, but were very upset at the shoddy job they did at tying up lose ends and giving us scenario-makers something to work with. I have not yet bought the game, and I refuse to do so until they produce some way of making scenarios. Not even this new patch provides an editor.

they are still patching, and firaxis has made it clear that the editor isn't their first priority. In the 2nd or 3rd patch, you will probably get more options. Once the game bugs are out.
