Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
i have played 3 games and all have ended the same way. Late in the game i would get the following error: "civilization 3 has cause an error in civilization3.exe" and then it goes to desktop. If i reaload game i get same error at same place.
Yes, I have gotten this (very repeatable) error. Whenever it occurs, it seems as if any time a previous autosave is loaded (even if it's the earliest auto-save) and make somewhat different decisions it seems to happen in the same place.
Now over on the General board there's discussion of the Soon-To-Be-Released patch, and one of the things mentioned is a limit of 512 cities on the map, and this number might be lower in the current (pre-patch) release and cause problems. Since I like to play on HUGE maps (even changed stuff using the editor so that 'huge' gives me the max possible size) it could be possible that whatever the current limit is could be causing it, but that's just a guess.
Computers are perfect, but humans arn't, for this reason the computer only does what the programmer tells it to, I want Civ 4 to be programes by AI!
Anyway, reinstall the game, and I can most likely guarantee you that the error will be abolished. I have many program faults at the same time event in computer programes such as web browsers, after restarting my PC, the problem is gone. Unfortinantly with games sometimes this happens, before reinstalling backup your saved game files off C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Saves.
