we use spacecrafts as air units. where's the problem?

Also you're right we shouldn't use water on mars - but how to disable ocean. And if we disable it - we cannot use the third kind of armies (ships).

We also could use a new nationality the marsians or some kind of aliens. Think this would be very funny

I thought a little bit about things like barbarians, which could be like they were in Civ2 of SMAC. So, polluting too much can incite a Free Mars militia or something, or unhappy people can create a civil war, etc.

Air units wouldn't be too hard. For some ideas, you can look at the mars mod in Civ2, with hopper rockets and such. Although I really dont think that is was all that great. So, I'm thinking that it is just balloons, rockets, and superlights until midgame.

Science:
When first getting to mars all science should be things like "Martian Rocketry" and "Martian Politics", which are essentially things known on Earth but need to be applied on a different kind of environment. After this period, we can assume that Earth was destroyed or something, and that research need to be done without the help of Earth.

Not entirelly, and by the time it was terraformed, it probably wouldn't be. The image I started with is a Hubble pic from nasa's website. I just threw it together, so redoing it with a redder mars shouldn't be too hard.

where is the one from snoopy? I looked to see if any had been done yet, but didn't see any. I'd like to see his.

Red Mars

Here are updated images of the era splashes from above. I tinted the original NASA image to a red instead of the tan color, and added rivers to the 3rd and 4th era.

How is the actual mod.scenario shaping up. Has anyone figured out the ocean issue yet?

Update: I did actually lose the most up-to-date civ3mod.bic in the patch/editor debarcle..but i have a fairly recent copy.

I also restarted the unit graphics after finding a space helmet prop. This is all compunded by the fact I have very little time to play Civ3 yet alone mod it.

Yeah, this is abusy part of the semester. I'm currently woking on a second set of splash creens that are on the martian surface The first one is almost done, so I'll try and post it by Monday. We'll see.
