How do I create Embassies???

I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to create embassies with civs that I meet after I have gotten writing. There must be a way to do this right? I thought I read somewhere in the manual that double clicking on the capital will give you the option, but I've done that and all it does is center the map. Right clicking gives me terrain info. Plz Help.

Double click little icon at right side of name of your capital. (You need to have writing advance.)
