I always hated having to research advances that don't do anything other than allow me to research other advances, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Here's a mod that removes two useless advances from the Middle Ages. Specifically, it removes Chemistry and Theory of Gravity (with Newton's University being moved to Physics, which means that it's effectively removing Chemistry and Physics, neither of which did anything). It consists of two parts: a pcx file, and civ3mod.bic. Everyone already has a modified civ3mod.bic, so here are the changes that need to be made:
-----
Invention
X: 281, Y: 531
Gunpowder
X: 526, Y: 531
Physics
X: 780, Y: 440
Prerequisites: Astronomy
Metallurgy
Prerequesites: Gunpowder
Magnetism
X: 780, Y: 531
Prerequesites: Gunpowder, Astronomy
Chemistry and Theory of Gravity
X: 1024, Y: 751 (These are the coordinates I used, but others could work as well)
Not required for Era advancement
Prerequisties: None
Newton's University
Required Advance: Physics
-----
You can also change the research cost of some of the advances to make them harder to research, but I'll leave that up to you. Also, note that it may or may not work with saved games (I found that it works, but I don't guarantee it). Naturally, any mod-makers that want to include this in their mods can feel free to do so.
