Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I already started a few games, which load and save perfectly for that civ3 session, but when i exit the game and come back later, i get an error message when i try to load the ame, even with the autosaves...
IF YOU ARE USING A MAP WHICH YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED OR SELFMADE ... try to start a new game with the same MAP and after the game has started LOAD THE OLD GAME ... IT WORKED WITH MY CORRUPTED SAVE GAMES until I encountered the "building a new town crash bug" (which ended all of my games until now)
i've goten the same type of errors. The problem comes in many forms:
- the game will not load at all, and that pop up message will show up forever. You need to CTRL ALT DELETE the process and try another save file
- the game will refuse to load the save file and a window will show up saying its a bad save file. You need to try another save file
- the error message will pop up a few times, however the game will load. When you will play though, you will see there will be missing cities, maps, leaders, techs, who knows what else
In most cases it is my autosave that get corrupted when the game freezes up my box. Rarely though it's just a regular save that got corrupted. I figure this is probably a writing error.
Not much can be done unfortunately except trying another save file.
I choose to load the game, and the completion bar appears, gets to 8% and the message appears, in a standard Civ3 pop-up window. I close it and can try to load another game, start a new one, etc.
Alex, thank you very much. Even though it was a standard Civ3 game, with no mods or anything, your method works perfectly, and i can fund new cities with no trouble. (I still save before i do, just in ase)
Smellymummy, as you can see above, i can use those files perfectly if i don't exit civ3, and if i use Alex's method...
It seems Civ needs to get 'warmed up' before it can load games
