  • GRAPHIC: a little graphic change i made to the mines

I'v made a little change to the mine graphics in the game.
i cut off the little wagon in front of the mine, and made the mine a bit greener, and brighter, so it will fit more naturally into the background.

Looks a bit cleaner on the map now.

It took a moment to realize that those little buildings were mines and not some sort of settlement. Could you replace those mines with some clear abstract symbol for mining instead?
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Ahhh yes ... thank you ... the original mine graphics are annoying only because the AI clear cuts forest and build's mines everywhere.

I couldn't help thinking the original ones look like skulls.

yeah, a simple abstract marking would be nice.

Damn AI, why does it turn the map so ugly?

I think you work is great.

I do NOT think that making little icons to repersent mines is a good idea. What's the point in that? Is it not obvious enough already ??

Let me guess, the next step will be to replace all the units with little white boxes in which will be written their stats, right? GIVE ME A BREAK !!! Aesthetics are one thing that makes Civ 3 great, and if the game isn't visually stimulating, its missing something - nothing big, but lets keep the graphics how they intended it.

Lets not forget that the game has been out for a little under a month now, and Sid's team have been playtesting it for months before the release - lets give them some credit ! (this last paragraph should also be read by all those creators who are constantly changing the game to make it 'work better' ... i dunno, but the people at Firaxis have been making the game for years now and although i think some things need to be tweaked, lets give them time guys ... THEY DESERVE OUR THANKS AND RESPECT !)

                    Anybody agree with me ??

                    Thats my rant for today
                    Good Gaming everyone
                    Cheers

I demand you stop making maps!

They at Firaxis have been working months and investing thousands of dollars in the two maps they shipped the game with and game is less than one month at the shops.

Good pic for the mines. Im gonna use it with Snoopy's terain mod.

This change should really make the map less crowded.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

                            A-Ha! Different situation !!

With the game, they also shipped a little program known as the EDITOR thus giving people permission to make maps! Besides, I'm not altering anything gameplay oriented, just making maps.

And what I'm specifically fighting here is the icons instead of mines - i have no problem with the work this guy did on changing the look of the mines, i just don't want people to go insane and iconize everything! Grrr

So you don't agree with me? You'd like the little white boxes with numbers in it? heck they do the same thing, right????
