Is this a Common Problem

Please can someone tell me if this is a common problem.
I can play the game fine for around 10-20 mins then the screen just freezes up with no error message, The cursor still moves and there's still sound but the only thing I can do is reboot my machine and start again.
My graphics card is a 3D Prophet 2 MX
Does anyone know if this will be addressed in the patch?
Or do I need to take the game back for a refund?

Aaaragorn, please puff Firaxis with a bug report, even if it's a common problem. Or post under the official ACS Civ III bug thread.
