  • My solution to the font problem

    Hey!

I finally got it to work. By reading threads here i found out that Civ III uses some Lucida Sans font.

Go to your fon't folder, usually "[WINDOWS]\fonts". Delete any existing Lucida Sans fonts (ie. move them so that you don't loose them. Normal ctrl-x in W2k won't work. You've got to copy, then delete). The go copy the LSANS.TTF file from your CivIII game folder into the [WINDOWS]\fonts folder. And that's it. It worked for me.

Why this occured I ask. Well - I think that when I installed Staroffice it did something wierd. Possibly installing the Lucida font's in the font folder so that Civ III can't find it's own font (or rather uses the lucida font installed by Staroffice).... But then again, I'm not sure.

    Please bump this thread.

Thanks a bunch! This really worked, my in-game font is actually readable now.

Yep, evil StarOffice ruined my Civ day too.

Thanks, I was already about to format and reinstall everything (except StarOffice).

So, this thread deserves to be bumped back to the front page.
