  • Passage of Time

    I figured out that the year of the game is directly related to the number of turns according to the following table:
    Code:
      From (Y/T)     To  (Y/T)       YPT
     ====================================
      4000 BC (  0)  2750 BC ( 25)   50
      2750 BC ( 26)  1750 BC ( 50)   40
      1750 BC ( 51)   750 BC ( 90)   25
       750 BC ( 91)   250 AD (140)   20
       250 AD (141)  1250 AD (240)   10
      1250 AD (241)  1750 AD (340)    5
      1750 AD (341)  1950 AD (440)    2
      1950 AD (441)  onward           1
    YPT is, of course, Years Per Turn. This seems to be hard-coded into the program. Does this have any impact on eventually getting event-driven scenarios to work properly? I mean is it OK for a WWI scenario (for example) to run with 2 years going by on every turn? Or the Battle of Hastings to happen at 10 years a clip? Without some sort of patch it seems like a severe limitation.

    I'm trying to figure out how to change the current year in saved games. It seems like you have to change the year AND the turn number to get it right. Then there's the problem of also changing the cities' founding dates. The game doesn't like it if the year is 432 AD and you have cities founded in 1987!

    BTW I'm kinda new here, just thought I'd share some info.
