  • All Scenario and Mods Bug

    hi,

all scenarios and mods have a bug... they render the science advisor (F6) usless. you can use the popup to pick technologies but you cannot change studies without completing the study.

if you push F6 in any scenario/mod before you start a technology you cannot exit the screen... keeps says you must choose a technology to study.

really i think it is an editor bug. any time you do not use the default rules it breaks the science advisor (F6). even if you don't make any changes to the rules... as long as you uncheck use default rules it breaks.

downloaded and tried 3 scenarios/mods and all had the same broken science advisor.

doesn't matter if you use the editor that comes with the game or the hacked editor.

    Hi, Dutcheese

Good to see a legendary modder return, even if it is in the wrong forum.

I guess you never got CTP2. OK, out of the box it's a very disapointing game, but it's a lot more modifiable than CTP1 and clearly infinitely more modifiable than Civ3 in it's current state. If you get bored with Civ3 check out the CTP2-creation... forums. We've really only recently managed to get a handle on some of the poorly/undocumented SLIC2 functions (YOU know the feeling) and you can do some really neat stuff with them, so the door is just beginning to open.

      hi peter,

thanks for the welcome back. was way over worked for a while. ended up working with activition for a while on the CTP2 beta. it was pretty cool, just wish i had more time... still working 2 full time jobs and doing some one time computer projects here and there though. needless to say my wife says i work too much while giving me my $10 allowance every week...hahaha hopefully i'll get some free time soon to checkout CTP2 again.

Firaxis knows of the problem and will try to fix it with the next patch.

Until then you need to save your default civ3mod.bic file, and when you install the mod you need to overwrite that same civ3mod.bic file.

Don't choose Load Scenario, but instead choose New Game. You'll find the changes are present.

However if techs are moved around or added the arrows will not point to what they should point to, but that is the only bug in a properly created scenario.
