  • While you wait for better editors, I am making a new Civ 2 Scenario...

Tonight, I began laying the groundwork for a new scenario called "Manifest Destiny." It's going to take place from 1814-1901, (end of war of 1812 to Spanish-American war). I am including the Americans, British, Spanish, Russians, "Friendly tribes," "Hostile tribes," and "Independent Republics."

I am going to use a map that inlcudes America, Lower Canada, Mexico, and some of the carribean.

I am going to work on some new concepts:

    1) After significant playtesting, I will determine how much it will cost to buy certain cities, in order to simulate American purchasing of property, and then I will create a way for Americans to buy them

    2) Pollution will be replaced with disease, which will be a significant concern

    3) In order to simulate slavery, there will be certain happiness features restricted to the north that can't be overcome until the end of slavery...the civil war...I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to replicate this, but I am considering just having massive amounts of barbarian troops appear in slave territory, or I might just bypass it.

    Some features:

emphasis on terrain will be heavy, with movement rates especially important

trains: no trains per se...instead, movement restrictions on roads will be reduced (roads will look like rail lines), and they will take longer to build

there will be resource rushes...these will be duplicated by having create unit orders in certain areas turn after turn...such as the California gold rush and the Black Hills gold rush.

There will be a distinct difference between the "settler" unit and "engineer" unit. The settler unit will primarily be used as an emigrant (settlers will have sever restrictions on improvement building). They will be used exclusively to found new cities. The engineer unit will be more expensive and will be the only proper unit to make land improvements.

There will be invisible native units that can sabotage your stuff (spies, except they are invisible)

Food will be a major concern, especially in frontier towns. Expect to use significant caravanning in order to supply these towns with food.

Anyone interested in helping? I would greatly appreciate the help!!

    Sounds interesting

Invisible vis a vis the submarine flag? I don't think that works with specialist units (trade/settle/diplomacy). Unless you're using ToT with the invisible until attacks flag?

No, there will just be no unit drawing for that slot...no drawing means no unit picture in the game. Since the shields don't show up on spies, that'll serve my purposes well.
