  • nVIDIA Cards and CIV3

    I have a.... Pentium III-933, 128m of Ram, and a 32m video card
yet everything runs sluggish even at the start of a game.
Mouse movement is VERY slow on screens... The video card
is a TNT2 which has the nVIDIA chip. Did I read somewhere
that CIV3 has problems with nVIDIA ???

I have a Athlon 1.2, 256 Ram and a 64 MB GeForce2 card, that have nVIDIA chipset, and everything runs OK. I think your problem can be a software problem and not a hardware one.
The only thing I notice is the screen that scroll a little slow, but not too much.
Try update your card drivers, this may help you.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.

Actually, it seems to be the most recent versions of the nVidia drivers that are affected by the slowdown -- under WinXP I rolled back to the driver that shipped with the OS and it solved this problem with Civ3. (Read one of the MANY other posts on this issue. . .)
