  • Major Bug!

Just thought I would let all of you know what I have found.....

*sigh* I hope this gets fixed ASAP.

4 days ago, while playing CivIII, I typed in a group of random numbers for the enemy to pay me, per turn. The most important number is, 765646464. If you type this in, and give in return ANYTHING, the other civ will accept. As I said I was just fooling around and then they said accept and I was like "OMG!!!".

Don't belive that it works? Go try it out for yourself.

PS.It MUST be 765646464, NO MORE NO LESS.

Since the computer can never have that large a sum of gold, I doubt they would even pay you anything. They might accept it, but that doesn't mean you'll see the money.
To us, it is the BEAST.

My computer with CivIII on it is at a friend's house (4-day LAN party! Wahoo!), so I'll have to check on this tonight.

But let me clarify something: Do you actually recieve that much money? Or do you just bankrupt the AI every turn? And can you ask for additional things? For exaple, 765646464 gold per turn, plus some techs, and only offer them 1 gold lump sum in return.

And do you think it's ONLY this number? Or could it be a certain set of numbers satisfying some type of algorithm or something?

And if this is true this is a major bug. I'll print this out and check it out this evening in between games of half-life and unreal tourney.

TRUST ME, you do. Ive fiddled with it you ALWAYS see the money. ALWAYS.
Please, test it yourself. Just start a new game up or save the one your playing now and then test it on that one so you can go back to it.

Its true as toasted toads(if youve read wizards first rule youll get it, if not dont ask).

Its that number, ive tried 765646463 and they say NEVER. And you cant ask for anything else with it or it will not work. You get the money AND bankrupt them untill the 20 turns are over. But once the money is at 1,500,000,000, the next turn it goes to 0 and restarts the process untill the 20 turns is up.

This was already reported and confirmed elsewhere. Basically if you are really beating the computer bad you can ask for 999999999 gold and they will agree.

so wait, is this number a glitch, or is it just a thing where the AI will agree to an outrageous amount of money if they are getting their butts kicked?

                Soren says:

There is an integer overflow bug where gold per turn is concerned. (paraphrase).

Otherwise known as the 100 million-dollar bug, reported earlier here .

Listen, the second you meet the AI you can do this, doesnt matter if you are winning at anything or not.

If you don't like the bug/cheat don't use it. Since there's no MP it's not going to harm you.
