  • Second US Civil War scenario ideas...

Once the editor allows me to do what the Civ 2 editor did I'm thinking of making a scenario based off of a second US Civil War in which I'll go way overboard and make 16 civs

Am still thinking of what civs to put in and I'd like some input...

    Some ideas:
    New England Federation
The City State of New York
    USA
    The Commonwealth of Virginia
    CSA
    Texas
some kind of latino insurgency in the southwest
    Mormons
    California
a waco civ off in Montana
The Free City of Las Vegas (with wondors like the Luxor Casino )
a few military based with lot of units and their own civ
    anarchists in Eugene, Oregon
    something in the Rust Belt
    something in the great plains
    Mexico
    the UN?
    Quebec
    Canaba
    western canada?
    the canadian maritimes?

Bah, you're right, that is overboard

      here are my suggestions:

In the Northwest: White Supremacists as one faction, Hippies as another
In the Southwest: Old people as one faction (they could be known as the "Geezers") and Native Americans as another faction
In the Midwest: Farmers as one civ, Soccer moms as another
In the Northeast: The suburbs as one civ, cities as another
In the Southeast: Bible thumpers as one civ and Yuppies as another

      and Texas

I think the real qusetion before we choose factions is this: whther the scenario should be based more factually or more, well, imaginary? (sorta hard to understand, but you get the idea)

My idea was for the scenario to be far-fetched with a good bit of tongue in cheek humor, but to at least try to make it possible (ie no geezers as an organized government )
Adding in Native Americans is an excellent idea, I really needed something to fill out the mid-west.
Should be able to do a lot with culture and nationality, for example giving Vegas huge amounts of culture and making a lot of people in cities in the South West have a Mexican nationality.

What we need is Harlan Thompson to make us a WW2 scenario!

At one time I played around with the idea of making a "Nine Nations of North America" - based on the book by Joe Garreau(sp?) More to play around with Civ2 scen making. Not sure if there would be copyright issues. Presumably this could be modified sufficiently (10 nations? whatever) to make it legal.

As info, the book was based on idea that there are really nine very different regions in North America, with different attitudes and concerns , overlapping political the actual political boundaries.

              The nine nations are (IIRC):
              1. Rustbelt - Midatlantic-US, Lower Midwest, southern Ontario.
              2. Greater New England - New England plus Maritimes
              3. Dixie - South excluding peninsular Florida
              4. The islands - Peninsular Florida plus the West Indies
              5. Quebec
              6. Empty Zone - Great plains, Rockies, Prairie Provinces
              7. Ecotopia - Northern California, Oregon, Wash. State, British Col.
              8. "mexico" - including southern california, border regions of Ariz, New Mex, Texas
              9. Oil Patch - Texas, Oklahoma, adjoining areas.

I was going to do it as a civil war (which the book does NOT explore) Background would be Quebec Independence, breakup of Rest of Canada, absorbption of ROC by US, subsequent fracturing of US by regions.

Feel free to use these ideas.

Any of you played Crimson Skies? What about making a scenario based on that alternate timeline/universe? There's the game and the comics based on that universe. You can get your sources there.. And there'll be Airship carriers!
