  • problems with civlll

Well I bought it yesterday, loaded it in watched the intro, started a tutor gamegot started and as soon as i tried to build a city it crashed... windows gave me an error msg saying civ3.exe caused a divide error...
So I go to the civ3 web site, read the faq there, replaced my vid drivers (which dont work nearly as good as the one's I was using before) uninstalled, reinstalled, and now I get the divide error as well as an error about the game not being able to open the vid buffer. That's what I get for bying an Nvidia I guess
SOooooo anybody have any Ideas on how to get this game working?

This problems has been diescussed multimple times on the forum.

    The short answer is this:

    1) reduce the number of background applications running. Civ is a resource pig and needs as much systme resources as possible

    2) Reduce the number of fonts in yoour font directory to less than 256 or so - more than that and civ seems to have difficulty recognizing the Lucinda font that it uses

Good luck - in the future please use the search capability to see if others have reported similar issues.
