-MP (just PBEM is fine with me)
-An instant jump from the Building Queue to the Civilopedia (opening to the building/unit in question)
-A better info window. That box in the lower right is a mess and doesn't tell squat.
Where are you from? Put yourself on the Apolyton Map!

            * An option to draw borders on TOP of all terrain. It's impossible to find them in the large jungle/forests.

            * Have the info window show unit hp, other units in the square and (if it's a worker) show what improvements are already there.

-add more of the Important Resources to spawn ( IE Oil etc)

-fix the Worthless borders = unless your are war or have a Rite of passage NO one is allowed to the cross borders

-make the years go by slower, it was 1970 and i was still in the industrial age OR let advances be researched faster

-increase the freqency of heros/leaders appearing

                  * A summary screen of your trades with other nations. It's a pain to open diplomacy to find out what you're trading, and I can't seem to figure out how LONG I've been trading (So I know if I can cancel it peacefully)

                  * Possibly unintended effect - You can demand the same thing off an AI repeatedly by clicking the demand speech over and over, and their opinion will drop until they either declare war or just ignore you. Might be intended, but seems like an easy way to provoke a war.

                  * Small bug - Lighthouse should protect from galleys sinking on sea squares. But with it, even before Astronomy or Magnetism, I can run around ocean squares with no risk.

Yeah i had this problem too - i took my settler and worker ALLLL the way across the map wiht my galley, i dont think i could get that "lucky", i think its a bug.

maybe we should post this up so they address this on the first patch, i havent heard of anyone else talk about this.

How about adding the "create embassy" functionality to the diplomacy screen. Currently you have to double click on the star icon next to your capital's name on the map. That is bizarre.

And even that doesn't always work.

I received contact with the Romans via a trade with the Aztecs, and Caesar's face never showed on my diplomacy screen, nor did his capital (not sure if it's supposed to show, that, but I do think contact means I can talk to him in ways OTHER that going to the
millitary advisor screen and clicking on his name.

Furthermore, it won't let me establish an embasy with him (or, for that matter, the Americans, even when I DO click on the little star.) Yes, I have writing, and and embassy with every other civ (which I got by clicking), but now, I get no response when I try.

Even tried standing next to the capital with a scout. No luck. And yes, I do have enough gold to open it.

Also, in my chieftan game, I killed th French, or so I thought. They just started again (with another Paris since I renamed the cities) on a different part of the map. Now this may be the old 'restart civ after early elimination' concept, but I see no way to turn it on or off. I'm about to kill them again.

I've had a few corruption problems myself, but nothing major (Cheiftan, huge, 8 civs) and, really, I'm doing well.

It doesn't seem, though, that the other civs are doing much of anything. I'm WELL ahead in tech (I keep giving them tech, since, well, it doesn't seem like they produce any gold, either.) Most others have 4-9 cities, I have 11, and mind you, the fobidden palace, on a huge map, must take more than 8 cities, because I have more, and the required barracks, and yet no option to build it.

Rivers seem hard to find, too. I do a great deal of irrigating when I can get a decent starting position (i.e. grassland/plains) and it gets a bit tedious having to walk 15 tiles to get to water, then another 30 turns to irrigate back.

Well, that's all for now. I'm still having fun, and I'm not upset at my purchase. I would like to see a few other things though, speicifically a screen where it shows my building totals (i.e. X # of Barracks, Y # of Libraries, etc, like it was in the Civ I and 2. ), a list of the top 5 cities (I don't want to wait til the end of the game) and a list of the various wonders that have been built.

That's all for now. I'm still in my first 'full game' (BTW: ALWAYS order from EBworld -- For 10 games, I've had them the DAY they said they'd be out. NEVER have failed me yet) but have started over at least 40 times and played many partials.

Anyway, it does need a patch, but the reality is this... virtually every piece of software does, and it's not a lack of quality control as much as it is a lack of the ability to get the true input of those who play the game.

Only after the first version is released can the developers sit back and look and see what the 'public' truly wants, since prior to that, there isn't a realistic way for them to get 'the full story.'

And, also, unlike most other game companies, Firaxis people ARE on the board here and they're personally responding. Most other companies have ALWAYS given either vague or no answer.

                          Best Regards,

                          Scott

All of these can be fixed via the editor. Spawn a random map, seed it with the resources you want, save it, play on it. Also, you can set the tech advancement level on the map size tap for each size map. The larger the map, the slower the advancement, but you can change this by making the numbers smaller.

I am on Chieftan and it's 1840, and I just began producing railroads and steam-powered units. I think I'm pretty well on track technologically. I'm on the large map, but I adjusted the tech rate.

You can demand the same thing off an AI repeatedly by clicking the demand speech over and over, and their opinion will drop until they either declare war or just ignore you. Might be intended, but seems like an easy way to provoke a war.
This seems alright to me. Be a jerk, get treated like one! I did this several times with the Russians, actually, but they never declared war on me, just became furious. THis was because I was stronger than them. I finally gave up and declared war, smearing my reputation...

Embassies--Are you double-clicking your own capital or theirs? You have to do your own. How many civs are you playing with? If you have more than 8, some won't appear on the Foreign Advisor screen. But if you click on the little "D" next to the info box in the lower right corner, all civs will come up whom you have contacted. If you're at war with a civ, remember you can't set up an embassy.

the fobidden palace, on a huge map, must take more than 8 cities, because I have more, and the required barracks, and yet no option to build it.
I had 12 cities when I built it, that's all I know. But not all were "cities," as some were small 1 or 2 size towns.

Rivers: Don't forget inland lakes will allow you to irrigate as well. I've generally had good river/lake access. Plus...there's no harm in having tons of workers to speed up the process. If you have 3 guys irrigating the same square, it gets done three times as fast. You might also consider tweaking the worker rates in the editor, which is what I did.

Top 5 Cities--If you hit F11, this will come up at any point in the game. It's the good ol' Demographics screen.

Ecthelion--you could easily make change the German special unit and add city names in the editor.

Overall, I like a lot fo the suggestions. It looks like one of the biggest problems is how the game manages information. There need to be a few more options for accessing info. There are some inconsistencies in this regard--but nothing major. THe game still ROCKS! It's eating up my life!!!

                              I love it!!

                              Cheers.

PS--EB indeed is great...I'm a big fan of them.

thx, didn't know that one, I looked in the manual, but didn't find it

                                One more thing:

*When viewing the foreign adviser screen you can only see 7 enemies and ofcause myself. This is pretty annoying when playing 16 players, I want to be able to view all enemies (This could easily be solved by making the heads of the enemies smaller when playing 16 civ fights)
This space is empty... or is it?
