  • v0.77.1

    - Now rivers can be exported as well.

I still don't recommend playing exported maps as some sules might be exported in the wrong way. The maps should be used to get an overview and to know where to move the units.

    • v0.78

Changes both in the SaveGame Editor and in the CopyTool.
      - Units can be deleted from SAVS
      and
      - Maps can be changed to not wrap around. (Something if you want to make a European map)

      • Well Gramphos no scenario editor, starting locations, or any thing of the sort in the patch update, well I think it's time to get to work.

Yes, I think you are right.

If I only knew what to prior (except school (have a big test this Friday)).

          • Sorry, I think I'm stupid.

I unzipped the download into a new directory, and am rightclicking on the file and selecting "Install". I get an error message saying "The disk labeled 'Default' is now required" and no matter what I select the dialog box just closes and nothing else happens.

Is there a specific directory I should be unzipping these files into before trying to run the Install? Is there a specific piece of software [other than the game and VB 6] that I need to have on my machine?

            • Ludwig, I don't really get what you tried to do. Was it the VB runtimes?

              What OS do you use?

              • Sorry Gramphos, I should have been more specific.

I have a Windows 98 machine with CivIII and Visual Basic 6 loaded on it. [Disclaimer: I don't know much about VB. I only use it to develop tools for use in MS Access applications. If the CopyTool requires extensive VB experience, I'm probably not smart enough to use it and that's where I'm screwing up.]

After downloading and extracting the files posted on this forum, I end up with two directories, each containing two files:

                C:/MyDownloadFiles/comdlg32/comdlg32.txt
                C:/MyDownloadFiles/comdlg32/comdlg32.ocx

                and

                C:/MyDownloadFiles/comdlg32/comclt32.txt
                C:/MyDownloadFiles/comdlg32/comclt32.ocx

If I click on either of the .ocx files, I get the Windows prompt asking me what program to use to open the files. Since I don't want a bad program association, I just back out of that.

If I right-click on either of the .txt files, I get the option allowing me to Install. This is the closest thing I could find to your instruction to run the Install. When I try to run Install on either of these files, I get the error message I originally referenced.

Was I supposed to download these files to a specific directory? Do I have a naming convention problem? Should I have opened the .ocx files in VB? Sorry, I guess I'm fairly clueless.

                Comment

                • There should be .inf and not .txt, and they are the files you should right-click on (not the ocx-files).
You need VB5 drivers, not VB6 drivers, can it be it?

Read the readme.txt in the zip.

Support for the patch added. If I can get into the first post and edit it today (30 minutes left) I'll do that. Otherwise I'll do it tomorrow.

                    • Just a word of warning.
The CIV3 patch won't write over any file newer than what is supplied by the patch.

Translation: If you made any mods to the .BIC since 11/27 then you won't get all of the patch.

It be nice to see a list of files the patch changes.....

So, I found some more places in my code where I read and wrote BIC info. They are also fixed now.

New: The CopyTool will no longer terminate after a copy has been made.

                              • Is it possible to change player civ? IE change from the Indian civ to a different AI controlled civ, and make it the new player controlled civ?
